Re: [Bug 853131] Re: burning faulty media on HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GU40N
Hello Pedro !
I can verify the problem but NOT its solution with a virtualized Oneiric
Live-CD:
Burning the ISO image with Brasero + wodim and verifying the md5sum for
the CD leads to:
md5sum: /dev/sr1: Input/output error
Doing the same thing with Brasero + Brandon Snider's cdrecord also leads to:
md5sum: /dev/sr1: Input/output error
Afterwards I burned the ISO on - the not virtualized - Lucid again and
it still works fine, i.e. correct checksum.
Cheers,
H.L

Title:
burning faulty media on HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GU40N
Status in “brasero” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Refers to Brasero 2.30.2-0ubuntu1.1 and Wodim 9:1.1.10-1ubuntu1 on
Ubuntu 10.04 amd64.
I couldn't write ISO images correctly to HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GU40N,
firmware QX21 from Lenovo, on a ThinkPad T410.
Writing ISO images to two different kinds of CD-RWs with Brasero worked without error message. Nevertheless, e.g., booting such a CD-RW failed.
Creating checksum:
$ md5sum /dev/cdrom
md5sum: /dev/cdrom: Input/output error
Adding Brandon Snyder's CDRTools PPA
(https://launchpad.net/~brandonsnider/+archive/cdrtools?field.series_filter=lucid)
for Wodim patched this problem.
