Thanks for your bug report. This seems more like a compiz bug, not a
software-center one, so I'll re-target it accordingly. Could you please
run "apport-collect 905876" in a terminal? That will add some debugging
information and hopefully some log files regarding the crash to this
report.

  Desktop cube effects do not run initially. When changing rendering
  effects by using compiz icon, compiz crashes but cube effects run.
