  Netbook edition of Natty won't load desktop

Status in “gnome-panel” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-panel

  After an upgrade to 11.04, the desktop fails to load, this has been
  reported by another user, and a possible solution uploaded but so far
  no complete answer to solve the problem. I can get to a terminal
  screen and an internet screen using ctrl alt t nd the ctrl alt del
  then search for hep online

  the recommendation was to totry

  nautilus -q; gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/panel && killall gnome-
  panel

  but the process is not found
