Title:
Using Keyboard to Change Backlight causes gdm to become non-responsive
Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Ubuntu 11.04 Alpha3
Running on an Acer 5810TZ, in prior versions 10.10 and 10.04 the adjusting the display brightness via the hotkeys would lock up the whole system graphically, although some have reported the system was running underneath, I was unable to test. Now the brightness keys work correctly, however afterwards the top panel and applications ignore any mouse / keyboard input, however brightness can still be adjusted. When adjusting the brightness the indicator does not show the brightness level (as it does for volume). In versions 10.10 of both xubuntu and kubuntu the hotkeys did not cause any issues. The problem seems to be specific to ubuntu specifically something in gnome.
