Title:
  metacity performance regression in natty/nvidia

Status in “metacity” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: metacity

In Natty, metacity performs much, much worse than in Maverick. I see a
drop in framerates with games run in wine and of about 50%, and
glxgears reports less than 1000 fps compared to 9000 fps in Maverick.
(glxgears under compiz in Natty reports an excellent framerate of
around 3500, but the gears actually only appear to turn once or twice
  a second.)

It is of significance because running games under compiz in Natty
doesn't provide better frame rates than in Maverick.

This is on a Dell XPS 15 with an nvidia 8600 graphics card and running
  the nvidia 270.30 drivers.
