OK.  Looking at existing bugs I find that upstream bug 43009 has similar
characteristics to this bug, and refers back to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/779366 which
appears very close to this bug.

I shall look at this further and make appropriate links between
(duplicate?) bugs in launchpad and check that full information has been
sent upstream.
