  Trying to check for upgrades -  could not run Sudo command

Status in “gnome-terminal” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  This the error message I got.   E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. 
  E: _cache->open() failed, please report.  

  
  Then I opened a command window....."geoffrey@geoffrey-X58A-UD3R:~$ sudo dpkg-configure-a
  [sudo] password for geoffrey:
