Installed mesa-utils and system info recognizes immediately Gallium. 
Assume it was recognized in Oneiric testing phase because it was upgraded from Natty, Precise was a fresh install from usb.
I'll mark this one as dupe of 865957.

  The driver is radeon. Before the installation Oneiric displayed something like Gallium <version_number>.
