Message #62138
[Bug 855793] Re: Kubuntu 11.10 beta 1: Error upgrading using muon
I am sorry, I should have been more clear.
When I wrote Kubuntu 11.10, I meant a fresh install of the final version from Kubuntu 11.10 ISO to a VMware Player.
And Muon always hung at 56% Running dpkg
My work-around outlined in my comment #16 was the only one that was successful for me, and I tried half a dozen times.

Title:
Kubuntu 11.10 beta 1: Error upgrading using muon
Status in “gtk+2.0” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Status in “kde-workspace” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
After installing Kubuntu 11.10 beta 1 in Virtualbox 4.1.2 (during
installation I did not select to get updates) I tried to do a full
update using muon package manager.
The download of packages completed successfully but the installation
process stuck on 20 % on kate package update.
After waiting for a long time ( about 1 hour), I killed the update
process.
Then, I restarted the virtual machine but my system is not functional
(e.g no network, no sound, no way to perform updates).
