[Bug 348131] Re: gnome-power-manager should give a countdown when battery is critical

This does affect me, too.
And I think shaving this as a wishlist item does not take into account this had been working before upgrading to Ubuntu 11.10.
This is definitely a regression!

I have two batteries and sometimes my notebook does get shut down when
the first one (external) is reaching discharged status even though the
internal battery is completey charged.

gnome-power-manager should give a countdown when battery is critical

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I was using my laptop and gnome-power-manager informed me my battery
was getting low and the system would soon shutdown. It then proceeded
to shut down without asking me after about 5 seconds. This wasn't
enough time to finish what I needed to finish and make sure I was
thoroughly, saved, logged out, etc. of what I was working on.

It would be nice if when gnome-power-manager decides to shut down it
popped up a dialog with a countdown (say 10 seconds) with a "Delay"
button and/or an "Ignore" button. "Your laptop will be shut off in
10... 9..." etc. Delay would cause it to wait another minute or so
before bugging you again, and Ignore would cause it ignore that the
battery is critical (until the next time the AC is inserted and
removed). I think this is saner than having a power management
inhibiting applet -- which I may not even have time to get to and load
before gnome-power-manager decides to shutdown my machine. It would be
  friendly to non-power-users.

  Ubuntu version: Intrepid Ibex
