I have lately solved the problem bij importing an old backup, which I made six moths ago. Evolution is functioning normal again after that, but iI am missing al my recent mails. the only thing that I can advise is: make twice a week a backup. When this problem happens again you will not lose so much data. Only for a couple of days.
When you have a huge amount of data and you close Evolution it is better to be patient and not forrce to cluse the application. Writing and closing the data will take more time. When you do so, there is a chance that you damage the maps in Evolution. Evolutiomn cannot read all the data en you will lose your old mails.
