[Bug 875780] Re: Wireless Very Slow - Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965

I'm running an Acer 5920 laptop. Wi-fi was good with 10.04. Recently
wiped the drive and installed 11.04 Xubuntu, wi-fi horrible. Tried Mint
12, same thing.

Asked about it in this thread:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1901351

I tried the work-around described, which apparently disables the "n"
band functionality?

We're on satellite internet, so it's never very fast, but after the
modification to modprobe Speedtest.net gives me virtually identical
results on Ethernet or wi-fi.

We're running an old Linksys WRT54G router. Could that be part of the
problem??

Title:
Wireless Very Slow - Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
In Ubuntu 10.10 and 11.04, my wireless works perfectly. I installed a
fresh version of 11.10 and the wireless connects, but the transfer
rate is extremely slow, about 30Kbps (should be around 2Mbps). I
reinstalled 3 times and no luck. When I connect to my mobile phone as
a hotspot, I get fast speeds again so this is related to my wireless
card/router. I have never posted a bug report before so please tell me
what further info you require. I have a Dell XPS M1530, which is a
popular Dell range so this must effect others.

I believe my wireless card is Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG
  or AGN [Kedron] Network Connection

I saw these commands requested in other topics so thought they may be
  of help;
