Title:
Menubar-related options in GNOME Terminal make no sense with a global
menu bar
Status in “gnome-terminal” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-terminal
There are two options in GNOME Terminal that make no sense in Unity with the global menu bar:
- View > Show Menubar
- Edit > Profile Preferences > General > Show menubar by default
Whether the menubar is "shown" or not, it is visible at the top of the
screen when hovered over like any other globalised menu. When the
menubar is "shown" you can hold Alt and press V to get to the View
menu for instance, but when it is "hidden" the keystroke goes to the
terminal. But you can always move your mouse up there and click on it.
I can think of two solutions:
- One is to hide those two options when there's a global menu present (can the user still access the menu with the keyboard, I wonder?)
- The other is to just change the wording of the questions when there's a global menu available
