Title:
Color palette : Bad choice !
Status in GNOME Terminal:
Fix Released
Status in “gnome-terminal” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-terminal
The default color palette used by gnome-terminal is "Tango" which maps
the "black" color of ncurses to a dark grey (not black) this makes
using ncurse programs (like emacs, aptitude...) much difficult since
it reduces contrast.
You could either change the default theme to Linux console or just
change this black->grey to black->black
