Title:
Unreasonable CPU-usage in monitoring
Status in “gnome-system-monitor” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Tried using Gnome system monitor 3.2.1 on various older systems.
Results as follows:
near zero utilization in 'system' and 'filesystem'
utilization as follows in 'processes' and 'resources', somewhat lower utilization for processes.
Dual Xeon HT (Quad virtual cores) netburst (2x2.4GHz@400MHz HT) = aprox 35%, 8-12% weighted over all 4 cores
AMD Athlon 64 3200 (1x2,0GHz@1000MT) = aprox 11-20%
Intel P4 2,53 (1x2,53GHz@533MHz) netburst = aprox 16-20%
Intel P4 (1x1,8GHz@400MHz) netburst = aprox 25-40%
Intel P3 (1x933MHz@133MHz) coppermine = 99,7 to 100%
It seems to me that fully saturating an old coppermine CPU for resource monitoring is a bit over the top,
and 35% on a Xeon-server?
Using my laptop with C2D T7250 (2x2,0GHz@800MHz) the weighted
utilization is 6%(!)
