[Bug 830840] Re: Chat window will not open
This is happening to me as well. As described by Rodrigo, after a
reboot it may work ok for a while. If I click "Quit" from the chat menu
and launch it again sometimes it works for a while as well.
I've tried launching Empathy from a console to see if it logs anything
but nothing shows.

OSD notifier works, as does the "Who's online" window, but when a chat
request comes in, or when you try to open a chat request with a user
nothing happens.
