Yes, it is different :)
I also want to add that the same exact bug exist on the 64-bit version -
Lubuntu 11.10. I'm online and I can browse or do anything that requires
an internet connection but I still see the same:

Enable Networking and Enable Wireless are not ticked by default like
it's not even selected but I'm able to be online and connect to my
Wireless Network. If I Click on both to enable, nothing happens. When
I un-check both of them, I go offline. The network manager does work
but looks like it's a display bug
