[Bug 922069] [NEW] REGRESSION: can't play mov files

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In Ubuntu 10.10 I used to be able to play DV mov files in mplayer, i.e.
mov files (quicktime) encoded with the DV codec.

Now in 11.10 I can't. I don't know whether this is because of the mov format or the DV codec, but it definitely looks like it is the mov format because:
- I can play them in VLC so I must have the codec
- when mplayer searches for the "suitable plugin", it says it can't find "quicktime demuxer".

By the way the "search for suitable plugin" is a joke, isn't it? EVERY
time I try to open a file that mplayer is unable to open and it searches
for suitable plugin, it NEVER finds it. There has never been a single
time it found and installed the suitable plugin.
