[Bug 922424] Re: lightdm won't start I have console(s) only
Are you calling /usr/lib/lightdm/lightdm-set-defaults in your postinst
for your lightdm theme? That's generally what needs to set the session
and greeter.

Title:
lightdm won't start I have console(s) only
Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
On install of ubuntustudio 12.04 alpha (jan 26, but others for about a
week now) boot never gets to lightdm. I can log in on a console
terminal ok. The lightdm log complains about missing
/usr/share/xgreeters/default.desktop. putting a link in that directory
to lightdm-gtk-greeter.desktop (ln -s lightdm-gtk-greeter.desktop
default.desktop) seems to correct this problem. Oneric (xubuntu) just
has lightdm-gtk-greeter.desktop and works fine.
