Message #70004
[Bug 871118] Re: Libreoffice spelling & spellcheck problems - has no red underlines for misspelling
chalcedony and Reuben Emmanuel (manueljoe), this problem is
unreproducible in either Xubuntu 11.10 32-bit/64-bit, or 12.04 64-bit. I
could only recreate this situation purposely by clicking Tools ->
Spelling and Grammar ... -> Options -> under User-defined dictionaries,
check checkbox standard [All] -> highlight standard [All] -> under
Options, uncheck checkbox Check spelling as you type -> click button OK
-> click button Close. Is this the case for you? If not, how does one
recreate this problem? Is this spelling problem correlated to any issue?

Title:
Libreoffice spelling & spellcheck problems - has no red underlines for
misspelling
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
libreoffice has no red underlines for misspelled words. Restarting
worked once but isn't working now.
1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 11.04
Release: 11.04
2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy
pkgname' or by checking in Software Center
~$ apt-cache policy libreoffice
libreoffice:
Installed: 1:3.3.3-1ubuntu2
Candidate: 1:3.3.4-0ubuntu1
Version table:
1:3.3.4-0ubuntu1 0

*** 1:3.3.3-1ubuntu2 0

1:3.3.2-1ubuntu4 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/universe amd64 Packages
3) What you expected to happen
Expected that if a word is misspelled or unfamiliar to it's
vocabulary, that it will have a red underline, so I will be able to
tell and fix it.
I have not been able to right click and add to it's vocabulary.
Tools - Spelling and Grammar - [Continue checking at beginning of document?] [Yes] [No] - clicking Yes,
I get [The spellcheck is complete.] [OK] - click OK..
but there are no word in Not in dictionary and nothing got checked.
4) What happened instead
There are no underlines, my misspellings and typos don't show up.
Tools > Spelling & Grammar does nothing.
I couldn't update vocabulary when the red underlines did work.
I almost sent a a legal document with
"Appeal the opinionss expressed" - in the top line!
