As well, could you please provide two screenshots, one with the desired text type in the footnote, and then one after where the formatting is not honored?

  Footnote highlights do not obey formatting

Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  OS: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric stable 32-bit
  Application: LibreOffice Writer 3.4.5 OOO340m1 (Build:502)

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Insert some text into LibreOffice Writer.
  2. Add a footnote.
  3. Type some text into the footnote which has italics, underlining, super/subscript or any other kind of formatting.
  4. Mouse over footnote number in the main body.

  You'll notice that all this formatting is ignored. I do not know
  whether this is by design, but it seemed odd to me.
