thanks for the bug report.
like you want to say that the favourite channel connect  with autoconnect,  like in xchat gnome..we have a option to save the channel or auto-join on start up option.. this you wana say.explain it  in simple and to the point words??

  Favourited IRC chats should go in contact list.

Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  IRC chats that I favourite in Empathy should be added to the contact
  list so that I don't have to go muddling through the top bar menus to
  find them.  This would also help me manage them because it'll give me
  somewhere to do context operations on them without having to use the
  manage-favourites dialog.
