Title:
list addresses do not expand correctly
Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
Click 'New mail', in the address field type in a list entry from your
address book, e.g. 'List address'. Press 'Send' - does not work.
Instead of expanding the list into individual addresses it used to do
in the previous versions, it reports:
List address <"List address"> is not a valid e-mail address because it
is not of the form user@host. You must correct it before sending the
e-mail.
This bug has been introduced in transition from the previous version
to the present. I have encountered it both in 12.04 LTS and 14.04 LTS
which I run on my laptop and desktop, respectively. I am guessing it
could have been introduced by trying to fix #1171543.
A workaround: selecting list address from the address book generates
an email with all the addresses expanded. Sadly, this does not work
with forwarding emails, which I need to do often daily (emails to
coworkers). The bug is still encountered after turning off all add-
ons.
