  HUD is unresponsive

Bug description:
  Fully up to date.

  HUD feels unresponsive. There are times when pressing ALT to activate
  HUD and nothing happens. I press ALT again, and HUD appears. Them,
  press ALT again, and HUD stays on screen. Press ALT a 4th time and it
  disappears.

  There are also times when I cannot get HUD to display at all. I
  continually press the ALT key and nothing.

  And, lastly, when I do get HUD to activate on first ALT, it feels
  laggy. I would expect it to be near instantaneous, but there is a
  perceptual lag to when I key down ALT and when HUD appears.
