Bug description:
  xchat-gnome gives the following gdk critical warning when running
  under Ubuntu 8.10

  (xchat-gnome:21272): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixmap_new: assertion
  `(width != 0) && (height != 0)' failed
