[Bug 1183948] Re: Can not read/write files to walkman (MTP)

I have a similar problem with a Samsung smart phone in Ubuntu Studio
14.04. I don't use Nautilus, but I can copy files in Thunar file manager
from the device connected in MTP mode to local hard drive. However, I
can not open the same (source) files for reading by e.g. VLC. In
terminal I can cd to the directory under /run/user/ and ls there and see
I have is rw access, but I can not even copy the files by cp: cannot
open <filename> for reading: Operation not supported

Can not read/write files to walkman (MTP)

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
So today I connected walkamn to my ubuntu pc knowing that it used to work at least on every other versions of ubuntu I have tried, latest 12.10
So I connected it and it showed files and folders as it used to but when I try to play something, it did not work, vlc even showed an error massage
File reading failed:VLC could not open the file "/run/user/levan/gvfs/mtp:host=%5Busb%3A001%2C006%5D/65537/7/6268". (Operation not supported)
 Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'file:///run/user/levan/gvfs/mtp%3Ahost%3D%255Busb%253A001%252C006%255D/65537/7/6268'. Check the log for details.
and I do not remember if it used to show the location of walkman as

on other ubuntu for example (12.10) this thing used to work even
 better than on windows ??

does not work in ubuntu 14.04 as well
