I have this issue with Inkscape 0.91pre2 r13516
some times pattern displays incorrectly in pdf, sometimes not at all.
tried with pdf reader and sumatra pdf on windows 7.

Bug description:
  Create a pattern in Inkscape. 
   Fill a shape with it
   Save the file as PDF or EMF
   The pattern doesn't show up in the resulting file.
