[Bug 1388928] [NEW] high CPU load and system caught in loop when external monitor connected

 

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When connecting my notebook to a specific projector and changing to the
external display with xrandr (xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1024x768
--output LVDS1 --mode 1024x768), the system is caught in some kind of
loop, with high CPU load and the graphical user interface getting
unresponsive (mouse cursor jumps every few seconds). The problem
"disappears" when the external display is turned off.

The Xorg log file contains (repeating endlessly):

This error is critical since I cannot give presentations in certain
situations.

Connecting another projector, the system worked perfectly.

I also tried different external resolutions, but this did not seem to
matter.
