How do you extract the file exactly? Could you add an example zip to the
bug report?

  file-roller crashed with SIGSEGV in
  open_progress_dialog_with_open_destination()

  3) What is expected to happen is when one attempts to extract a
  specially crafted .zip file to a specific folder, file-roller doesn't
  crash.

  4) What happens instead is it does consistently. However, it still
  extracted the file successfully.

  WORKAROUND: It doesn't crash if one does "Extract Here".
