I have AMD graphic driver FGLRX-update ! and i have the same problèm !
it' not a problem "Nvidia Driver" !!!!

Open GL version 3.0 Mesa 10.3.0
client glx version 1.4
Serveur glx vendor SGI/1.4

I can't boot with  Kernel 3.16 but i can with my old kernel !!!! 
i have the message with my old kernel 3.13.0.38 generic when i boot it (error while reading descriptor : broken pipe)but i can use it without problem....sorry for the other
