  [HDA-Intel - HDA Intel, playback] G51Vx No sound after 11.10 install

Bug description:
  Everytime I have installed ubuntu on my Asus G51Vx, I have had no
  sound at first.  Previously, I added 'options snd-hda-intel model
  =asus-mode3' to my /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf.  However, with
  11.10 this did not work.  When speakers were plugged in, sound was
  still produced by the internal laptop speakers.  After some research,
  I found that 'options snd-hda-intel model=auto' fixed my problem.  I
  wanted to share so that others in my situation could get their sound
  card working.
