[Bug 1393902] Re: GOOG search credit flag isn't always in search queries
Packaging notes:
2013-02-15, first added literal "&client=ubuntu" to the three pre-
populated Search-provider list ["search", "suggest", and "instant"] for
google item.
2013-02 to -11, half a dozen patch conflicts as templates churn. Not
maintainable. Error prone.
2013-11-17, Introduction of the New Tab Page. Enormous overhaul of
structures, including the client being a token in the URLs that is
replaced programatically. That's when I heard it should be something
different, probably "browser-ubuntu". I set the token value for
replacement to wrong thing, "ubuntu-browser".
2013-11 to now: Three patch conflicts of the token replacement code that
I fixed by hand. All easy.
Somewhere around 2013-11: The pre-populated-searches template dropped
"client", so token filler has nothing to replace.

Title:
GOOG search credit flag isn't always in search queries
Status in “chromium-browser” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
We expect "client=ubuntu" or "client=browser-ubuntu" in every GOOG
search query URL.
It isn't in every search, but is in some. The user-profile's age
(probably in versions, not time) seems to be a factor, or whether one
is logged-in to Google for sync seems to be a factor too.
data:

N=profile created with this version
(nn) = version
"client=value"
cm: L (38.0.2125.111) "client=ubuntu-browser"
