Title:
[HD3450] Switch user causes corrupt screen
Status in “xserver-xorg-video-ati” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Status in “xserver-xorg-video-ati” source package in Hardy:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
Binary package hint: xorg
Using the 'switch user' feature causes the display to be corrupted, blues become greens and other colours are not consistent. Attached is a screenshot, taken while the screen was corrupt, as you can see, the screenshot is normal, so I've also taken a photo of the screen.
The system remains perfectly usable, however. Logging out and in again fixes the corrupt screen.

I am not using any proprietary drivers and Ubuntu 8.04 is fully updated (hardy-security and hardy-updates) as of 5 Jan 2009.
When I use the proposed proprietary driver, 'switch user' causes a complete crash, with a black screen, unresponsive to ctrl-alt-backspace and ctrl-alt-f2. That might explain some entries in the logs.
