Title:
gurmukhi keyboard missing addak (U+0A71)
Status in “xkeyboard-config” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Status in “xkeyboard-config” source package in Hardy:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
Binary package hint: xkb-data
The keyboard layout for India Gurmukhi is missing "addak" character (unicode: 0x1000A71).
According to Inscript layout, Shift+3 should type this character
(http://guca.sourceforge.net/typography/keyboardlayouts/inscript/shift.png).
Modifying line number 986 of /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/in file in Hardy to the following should fix this problem.
key <AE03> { [ 0x1000A69, 0x00000A71 ] };
1) This bug is in package xkb-data
2) I have noticed this bug in Gutsy and Hardy.
On Gutsy:
$> apt-cache policy xkb-data
xkb-data:
Installed: 0.9-4ubuntu3
Candidate: 0.9-4ubuntu3
Version table:
*** 0.9-4ubuntu3 0
500 http://ubuntu.mirror.rafal.ca gutsy/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
On Hardy:
{~}$> apt-cache policy xkb-data
xkb-data:
Installed: 1.1~cvs.20080104.1-1ubuntu6
Candidate: 1.1~cvs.20080104.1-1ubuntu6
Version table:
*** 1.1~cvs.20080104.1-1ubuntu6 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
3) With this problem, a user cannot type a document in Gurmukhi (or
Punjabi) completely.
Warm regards.
