Title:
  PCI/internal sound card not detected

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Every time my system goes through a hard shutdown (power outage,
forced reboot), my audio stops working on reboot. Usually I've been
able to resuscitate the audio by reinstalling all the audio drivers,
as suggested on the audio troubleshooting page for the Ubuntu
community. The last time, however, this did not work and I had to
install the latest ppa audio, after which audio came back. Now,
nothing seems to work. I know the sound card and audio systems are
fine--the machine is a dual boot and audio works without problems with
Windows running. Ubuntu 'sees' the sound card, at least according to
sysinfo. But, my sound system settings shows "Dummy Output," no
microphone, and no hardware. I'm guessing that something left over
from the hard reboot is blocking the system's access to my audio card,
but can't seem to find anything online with suggestions for a fix.
I'd say the problem is a bug because I'd hope Ubuntu would be robust
  to an occasional hard shutdown.
