Title:
  unity not started, distribution upgrade to quantal

Status in Unity:

Bug description:
  The updatemanager has frozen in the phase "Cleaning up" without window
  manager (unity) while upgrading to 12.10. I have tried manually star
  unity (unity --replace). It has crashed. See attached log and strace.
