[Bug 1400186] Re: [VGN-A690, Realtek ALC260] No sound at all internal speakers and headphone (Green out)
As far as I could tell from testing there is no pin which outputs to the
headphone jack only. Instead the Internal speakers and headphone are the
same output pin. When headphones are plugged in the internal speakers
turn off.
I changed the Headphone pin to a Line Out since when I selected this
output the Internal Speakers/Headphone Jack became disabled and the A/V
Out remained on. When Internal Speakers was selected all three
(Speakers, Headphone Jack, and A/V Out) were enabled. Then I feel as if
the Headphone is actually a Line Out as it allows you to disable the
internal speakers when you have external speakers attached to that A/V
Out.
There is no Internal Mic in this laptop (Its not in the spec sheet and I
don't see one).
The port replicator has 2 more outputs (RCA and Optical) and 1 more
input (RCA), but I cannot test this until next month.

Title:
[VGN-A690, Realtek ALC260] No sound at all internal speakers and
headphone (Green out)
Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I have tried using different options in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-
base.conf. Without probe_mask=1 it also detects a Conexant modem.
I just discovered there is sound output from the rear A/V Out port of
the laptop, but there is popping whether or not audio is playing.
