the title is wrong,i dont know if the problem is related with nouveau
package,i just tried "sudo update-manager -d" and the answer is "can not
open display" i also did "sudo do-release-upgrade" the answer is no
upgrade needed,i've the latest version

  Empty desktop

Status in xserver-xorg-video-nouveau package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Hi i just installed ubuntu 14.10,after booting i can see my desktop background i also can log in,changing from desktop to terminal, but every time i go to desktop i only see the background image with no icons or menu bar.
  I've tried sudo apt-get "update,upgrade,xserver-xorg-core,ubuntu-desktop,etc" and i only see background image,any ideias?the grephic card is ati 5470....
