Both LO 4.1.6.2 and Excel 2013 will change B7=Customer1 after sorting. The issue is with your spreadsheet NOT with Calc’s sorting function. I have attached an example of how to correctly design a sortable spreadsheet to meet your desired goals. By using a lookup function, this spreadsheet will work in all spreadsheet software with default settings.

Please consider using other resources such as forums and Ask LO/Ask
Ubuntu  instead of issue trackers for help. Posting bug reports for
software your unfamiliar with just adds noise to the development
process.

Bug description:
  Update to LibreOffice 4.2.7 is causing incorrect sort behaviour in
  Calc.

  Attached is sample Calc document. To reproduce, highlight B6 to E14,
  select Sort and sort by Column D, see that column E didn't get sorted.
