2) apt-cache policy remmina
remmina:
- Installed: 1.1.1-1ubuntu1

+ Version table:
+ *** 1.1.1-1ubuntu1 0
+ 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/main amd64 Packages

3) What is expected to happen in a brand new install of remmina is click
button New > Name example > Server 192.168.1.2 > Username example >
- click radio button Password example > Resolution Use client resolution >
- click button Save > highlight the new connection > Tools > Export > Name
- example > Save and it doesn't crash.
+ Password example > next to Resolution click radio button Use client
+ resolution > click button Save > highlight the new connection > Tools >
+ Export > Name example > Save and it doesn't crash.
4) What happens instead is it crashes consistently:

WORKAROUND: Use a custom resolution.
Reproducible since Ubuntu 10.10 remmina 0.9.3.1-0~ppa2, and in Trusty.
