[Bug 1155616] Re: major stability issues with vnc protocol and rdp

Thomas, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
with the latest version of remmina in Precise, or a later version of
Ubuntu?

If so, please execute the following via a terminal as it will gather necessary debugging information:
apport-collect 1155616

As well, please provide click-for-click steps to reproduce this problem,
as well as the OS you were trying to remote into.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
major stability issues with vnc protocol and rdp

Status in remmina package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I know my report might not be very specific but somehow I do not know any further but to claim something. Somehow remmina is very unstable in general. It very often hangs and I have to force quit the beast. As soon as the connection to a host becomes unstable or simply gets interrupted the whole remmina gets stocked and does not react any more. I understand that remmina is "only" a wrapper for a lot of remote libraries but if the libraries fail I expect that remmina can handle this. Further more I have the feeling that it got worse in the last half a year. I sent numerous crash reports already.
In short I can see following issues:

  - sensitivity against network problems
  - freeze when a lot of data is updated, more often in faster networks
  - freeze when mouse wheel scrolling is used extensive
  - black screen when opening: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/remmina/+bug/1004197

I am wondering if all this is a remmina issue or a underlying protocol isssue (VNC in my case). But as I stated above at least remmina should be able to catch this.
It is sad to have to say this, but it looks like remmina has some major problems.
