Title:
  gnome-desktop-item-edit crashed with SIGSEGV in
  g_type_check_instance_is_a()

Status in gnome-panel package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  When trying to create or modify a desktop icon, it crashes when trying to locate the program's execute file. 
  So, I right-click and get Create Launcher. 
  I click to navigate to opt, libreoffice
  then when I click "program"
  crash.
  It's probably a permissions problem???
