Title:
after trying to start firefox from quicklaunch icon, left-side menus
stop working/freeze/don't open
Status in gnome-panel package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-panel
Version: 8.10
apt-cache policy gnome-panel
gnome-panel:
Installed: 1:2.24.1-0ubuntu2.1
Candidate: 1:2.24.1-0ubuntu2.1

100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
1:2.24.1-0ubuntu2 0

Expectation: Menu and quick-launch icons continue to work
Instead:
Seems similar to many other panel errors out there, but existing bugs
don't match mine exactly...
I was using dual monitors with non-binary/propietary drivers, then
switched to nvidia for my dual monitors.
Since then, if I click the firefox quick-launch icon on the top bar,
firefox doesn't launch, and the Applications / Places / System menus
stop working. However, the Power Down, Network Connectivity, and Sound
options on the right hand side still work.
I am able to open firefox by clicking on a desktop .html link after
the menus stops working.
