[Bug 1253096] Re: Cannot add IRC account with NickServ password
I agree that the "password" field in question is for the IRC server. The
real problem does seem to be in the fact that it is not possible to
enter a NickServ password through unity-control-center credentials.
I am new to contribing to Ubuntu but I would like to try and fix this
issue. I believe I would start by pulling code from launchpad? I looked
in the ubuntu-system-settings-online-accounts code but I could not find
anything directly relevent to entering usernames/passwords.

Title:
Cannot add IRC account with NickServ password
Status in Chat app, and Telepathy user interface:
New
Status in One Hundred Papercuts:
Confirmed
Status in empathy package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
In accounts settings:
1. Add new IRC account (I tested Freenode), input nick and hit done.
2. Things seem ok, it connects in Empathy (even though the Empathy
connection button in accounts dialog isn't enabled yet, which is surprising.)
3. I have a registered nick at Freenode, so I need to provide password
for NickServ at login. Hit "edit options" in accounts dialog and input
a password, then hit done.
4. Now the access trouble starts (and Empathy disconnects).
See attached screencast which demonstrates the problem.
