[Bug 1200295] Re: evince cannot open attachment that is not PDF

 

Andrey Gelman, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and
helping to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug
has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Vivid
Vervet.

This is a significant bug in Ubuntu. If you need a fix for the bug in
previous versions of Ubuntu, please perform as much as possible of the
SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.

Bug description:
  What is expected to happen with
  https://launchpadlibrarian.net/193855168/Sample_with_attachment.pdf is
  when one clicks the top left drop down to Attachments, secondary
  clicks the .jpg attachment, and clicks Open Attachment it opens up
  successfully.

  What happens instead is Evince notes:
  Unable to open attachment
  Couldn't open attachment “Clown_fish_in_the_Andaman_Coral_Reef.jpg”: Failed to execute child process "eog" (Permission denied)

  WORKAROUND: Secondary click the attachment > Save Attachment As
