Title:
network names with ampersands are displayed incorrectly
Status in network-manager-applet package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
When a network name contains the ampersand character, its name is not
shown in the list. Instead the entry uses the name of the network
coming before it in the list (or the category heading in bold if it is
the first entry in that list).
This problem noticeably occurs when connecting to a WLAN with an SSID
containing an ampersand because the name of new WLAN connections
defaults to the SSID. In order to replicate this issue manually,
perform the following steps:
1) Open the Network Connections dialog (Edit Connections... in the Network icon's menu).
2) Pick an existing network connection from the list and open the Edit dialog.
3) Change the network's name (not the SSID) to something containing an ampersand.
4) Close and save your changes.
5) Close the Network Connections dialog.
6) Open the Network Connections dialog again and scroll down to where you expect the network to appear.
What should happen: the network's name containing the ampersand should
be displayed.
What happens instead: the preceding entry in the list is repeated and
the copy may appear distorted.
