[Bug 1404068] Re: No internet connection with Huawei E3272 4G modem
I have tried to use that page, but was not helpful (nor especially
clear).
In *my* lsusb there is no 14fe id, nor 157c id. In my syslog there is a
line stating that usb_modeswitch *did* switched the modem - without any
udevrules-patching. ("usb_modeswitch: switched to 12d1:1506 on 1/3")
(Was it an incorrect switching?..)
That I cannot interpret well: "the connection will appear in your panel as it would if you would insert an ethernet cable". I never insert ethernet cables, I have solely the mobile net, in the panel nothing appeared.
What I did was: in Network Connections, Add, Mobile Broadband, then either appeared there (in the combo) a "Huawei Broadband device" or such (I have no screenshot), or not - did not seem to matter. In either way, my old modem worked. And the new did not. I selected Hungary, Telenor, "mobilinternet" plan, and disabled roaming (and left all others at the default).
Was this method wrong? What would be the appropriate method to set up (add) this modem in network manager?
"See the usb_modeswitc_data package for details. [] You may update it" -
I have tried to temporarily use my old modem (connect to the network),
issue an apt-get update and apt-get install usb_modeswitch_data, but
there was no such package, could not search for it, failed.
