Title:
pppd: unrecognized option 'lock'
Status in ppp package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: ppp
Description: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release: 10.04
Linux unlin 2.6.32-25-generic #43-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 1 09:46:13 UTC
2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Installed: 2.4.5~git20081126t100229-0ubuntu3
Candidate: 2.4.5~git20081126t100229-0ubuntu3
Version table:

My DSL connection fails to start because of network-manager call pppd with lock option.
Here is a command that network-manager uses to connect:
/usr/sbin/pppd nodetach lock nodefaultroute user log@xxxxxxxxxx
plugin rp-pppoe.so nic-eth0 noauth refuse-eap refuse-chap refuse-
mschap refuse-mschap-v2 nobsdcomp nodeflate usepeerdns mru 1492 mtu
1492 lcp-echo-failure 5 lcp-echo-interval 30 ipparam
/org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/PPP/6 plugin /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.4/nm-
pppd-plugin.so
It looks like pppd does not configured with lock support. According to man pppd:
lock Specifies that pppd should create a UUCP-style lock file for the serial device to ensure exclusive access to the device. By
default, pppd will not create a lock file.
I think pppd should support this option.
Please let me know if you need additional info.
