Message #95762
[Bug 1307793] Re: 14.04 rhythmbox freezes when going backwards a song (.m4a).
I am also able to reproduce this issue. I was unable to find any updated
bug threads, so apologies in advance for a depracated update to this
report.
The .m4a files in question all came from YouTube, via youtube-dl. I also
cannot duplicate the issue with .mp3 files.
1) Output of 'lsb_release -rd':
Description: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS
Release: 14.04
2) Package version via 'apt-cache policy rhythmbox'
rhythmbox:
Installed: 3.0.2-0ubuntu2
Candidate: 3.0.2-0ubuntu2
Version table:
*** 3.0.2-0ubuntu2 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
3.0.2-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages
3) What you expected to happen
Scroll forward in time via slider, advancing further into .m4a track
4) What happened instead
Rhythmbox becomes unresponsive and Ubuntu prompts to wait or kill. I've waited for several minutes with no luck. Killing the program and restarting is the only way to recover.
Note: It appears Videos is experiencing the same issue when playing .m4a
files taken from YouTube; which makes me wonder if the problem is
exclusive to YouTube or youtube-dl.
