Re: [Bug 1268257] Re: nvidia-331-updates 331.38-0ubuntu3: nvidia-331-updates kernel module failed to build, with only error: "objdump: '... .tmp_nv.o': No such file"

I give up. After entertaining this, and many other issues for the past
month, I am defeated. My askubuntu profile
<http://askubuntu.com/users/362112/snurfle> has more details. That site
has repeatedly maxed out the number of problems I can report in one day,
and has limited the number of updates I can make to show any
troubleshooting I have performed. Now that my laptop is starting to show
the same issues as my desktop, particularly this graphics error - as well
as the host of workarounds (not actual solutions) on this thread, I am
wiping 14.04 before I have no working computers. I really need a
functioning OS.
If someone considers this message to be unnecessary, I would point out that
I feel it is a valid data point to the devs who want to know the extent and
impact this bug is having on the community.
The extent of this bug is that it is impacting multiple machines with
markedly different hardware and requirements, and it is causing the users
(at least this one) to dump the system and return to something that just
works.
